Uni: Physical vs Online

With the change to online studying methods due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic (more information on staying safe), we thought we'd make a post on our experience with both online uni, and physical campus uni. The style of this post is a Q&A, and we will both try to give out honest opinions!
This will be a pretty short post, but it's just something fun to share and we hope you enjoy!

How do you manage to stay motivated at home?
A: Organisation is key! Create a to-do list of everything you want to achieve during the day or week and stick to that. It's so easy to get distracted by everything, so make sure you keep on track. And take breaks! Go for a walk, talk to your family, cuddle your pet, break up your work schedule so you don't feel like you are drowning!
M: STAY ORGANISED! I cannot stress this enough! Staying organised is sooooo helpful when it comes to staying on top of your workload. I highly suggest getting a physical planner, as well as make use of the calendar app on your devices to set reminders for tasks and assessments and deadlines.

What are pracs and labs like? especially with science degrees?
M: As a hands-on type of person, I don't particularly like the way labs and things are being conducted. You are given data obtained from previous years experiments, and you watch a recording of someone else doing the experiment.
A: My degree currently doesn't have any pracs and labs, but otherwise it's just doing worksheets and handing them in.
Does it help to do a science subject in HSC for your degrees?
A: If what you want to study in the future requires you or recommends you do a science subject, do it! Not only is it super fun, but usually in uni, the first year of that course in that science subject is the same as HSC. So for example, I'm doing biology and it's the exact same as year 11 and 12 HSC Biology.
M: You probably don't need to (unless it's a requirement of course), but it sure does help. For me right now, chemistry 1 is just the year 11 and 12 chemistry course. If you didn't take HSC chemistry, and you haven't done bridging course you may find it a little bit challenging as the course goes through the content so quickly, but it is still doable.
Top Tip for year 11/12s?
A: Work smart, practise practice practise, I can't stress that enough, do any practise questions you get your hands on. Also, it's not the end of the world if you get a bad mark, or don't do as well as you hoped, take the feedback and come back stronger next time! Don't forget to enjoy yourselves, take some time to do your own things, such as sports, reading, watching Netflix, whatever works for you! HSC is stressful, there's no doubt about that, but the best way to get through it is to have faith in yourself, set goals, and work hard.
M: Stop stressing so much. Just work through things and try your best, don't sweat over bad results or marks (because it is what it is and you can't change it now),learn from these things and better yourself.
