Secondly, the ATARS are released on the 18/12/2020. You will be able to check the website at 9 am.

SRS Offers - Conditional and Unconditional

We're just going to touch on this briefly, as we have already posted this on our story.

"There are two types of SRS offers. Conditional offers (which require you to meet additional criteria) and unconditional offers (which have no further criteria). Unconditional offer students can accept and potentially enrol. conditional offers only convert to a full offer once the condition is met" - UAC (via Instagram)

Conditional offers will usually require you to meet a certain ATAR / HSC band (5 or 6 usually). Make sure to check your emails and know what conditions you need to achieve.

For more information, see here

UAC and course preferences

In your undergraduate application, you can select up to five courses for your preferences.

Ordering Preferences

- On your list, the course you want to do the most should be first.

- It's important to remember you will only receive ONE offer per round

For more information regarding Ordering Preferences, check out this page here by UAC who explains it well.

Gap Year / Volunteer Programs

Here is a list of very popular gap year options that run. (obviously, due to COVID, not everything will be operating, it's important to check out the official pages for more up-to-date information)

Getting into Tafe

Check out your TAFE website, and follow the application programs up on there. Quick Link to NSW TAFE here

Here's the link to TAFE degrees that don't require an ATAR!!!

What if I Don't Get The ATAR I need? - Alternate Entries

Although not getting your dream / desired ATAR isn't the best feeling ever, it also isn't the end of the world. There are plenty of options available to you! Common plans are:

  • Applying to do a diploma first

  • Finding any attitude / other supplement tasks*

  • Applying to do a diploma first year or start in another degree (you can then apply to move across to the degree you want to do)

  • Keep waiting for the later offer rounds

Make sure to check what each uni/institute will offer, as well as what career opportunities each path has. We highly suggest making use of your career advisors at school who should all be available after the atars are released.

It's also important to check the previous years lowest ATAR cut-offs that the uni accepted for your course. You will be able to find that usually on the main degree page, or in a handbook for the university. This lowest ATAR cut-off means that you might be able to still get into your course by seeing what the lowest ATAR they accepted was. So for example, if you need an 80 ATAR, sometimes, the university will take a 75 ATAR.

* My school scaled our marks down a lot as it wasn't a high ranked school - this caused my star to drop significantly. At UTS, they offer a 3-hour aptitude test that can allow you an alternative entry straight into your degree (certain degrees) if you pass.

Other Options

Some other things you can do while waiting for ATAR's or waiting for University to start

- Travel!

Obviously, you can't travel internationally at the moment, so take a road trip with your friends, go up or down the coast, go visit the country!

- Day trips around NSW!

This is perfect if you don't want to stay somewhere overnight, hop in the car with your pals and go for a day trip down to Kiama, or to the Central Coast, or go to the country and spend the day in Bathurst!

- Relax!

Honestly, this is so important. You've just finished such a big year, with every challenge possible thrown at you, take some time for yourself, watch all the Netflix shows without the academic pressure, sleep in till 5 pm, do absolutely nothing, read a book every day, it's so important to just take a break from everything and let your body recover! Grab some friends and just spend the day at the beach, soaking up the sun! You deserve this!

Well, that's it! We hope this helped you out. Check out our TikTok and Instagram (@nesa.meemees) to keep updated with everything!
