5 Must Have Phone Apps for School (That You Will Actually Use)

Whether you are an Apple or Android user, there are so many helpful apps out there for you phones (and in some cases your tablets, watches and laptops) that really do make life just that much easier. I've compiled a list of my personal favourite apps, as well as some ideas on how to use them.

1. Notion
Notion is a wonderful app that I have only recently discovered. Similar to Evernote and Microsoft's Onenote, Notion allows its user to create spread sheets, take notes, make goal planners and so much more.
You are also able to download the application on multiple devices, and sync your work between them.
Below (or too the side) are the current available templates on offer in the app. To save space I only showed one of the drop down option available.
2. TimeTable
I don't think this particular application is available to android users, but for those of you who use apple, I highly suggest you use it. The app allowed you to set your subject, teacher, room, time, notes, and a colour to each class. The app them allowed you to see a view of your classes for the day, and if you pay (it was $2 AUD for me) you are able to get a week view of your classes.
Now I decided to use this particular timetable app for two main reasons; Watch and widget. If you have your apple device connected to an apple watch, you are able to get alerts for your classes that will buzz you at the start of a class, or prior to the class (depending on which option you select.) The app also has a widget, meaning if you swipe left from your main home page (to where you see the search on your iPhone / iPad / iPod) you are able to see the classes you have on that day.

3. Crash Course Video Series
Although I don't have this app anymore, it was SO helpful during HSC! As mentioned in the 'Mathematics: 2, 3 & 4 Unit Tips and Tricks' post, YouTube videos can be a lifesaver when you just can't understand certain topics or concepts. I find that hearing it from a different point of perspective and with different analogies just makes it click sometimes.
For those of you who don't know, Crash Course is an education YouTube channel that makes very easy to understand videos on a variety of topics, concepts, and subjects; and the Crash Course Video App is just an app that keeps all these videos in one spot.

4. Outlook (or your organisations email platform)
This is going to be a short one, but it is so helpful to download your school or university or TAFE email platform onto your phone, and log in with your email. Being able to both check and compose emails when you are either on the go / away from your laptop has its benefits, as well as having the ability to make alerts and notification from the application means you are always aware and up to date with what it happening.
* For both my high school, and university, the platformed used was Outlook (as you often get Microsoft 360 packages with your school) *
5. Your School App
Almost every university, and most private schools will have school apps that you can download from either the App Store or google play. These apps usually have updated information about room / timetable changes, upcoming events, great opportunities, as well as a space for you to check your library book and school grade status.
Staying on top of all of this is so helpful in staying organised and making your schooling that much easier. If your school does offer an app, (one of my high schools did, and my uni does), I would 10/10 suggest downloading it. Below is a screenshot of some of the features of the UTS app.

So this was a bit of a shorter post, but we are trying to experiment with styles and features, as well as types of posts. Let us know what you think below, and don't forget to check us out on our instagram account @nesa.meemees
